Local 73 would like to congratulate all winners of the IBB scholarship contest.
Mary Alexandra Lawson-MacLeod, daughter of Local 73 (Halifax, Nova Scotia) Craig MacLeod, graduated from Baddeck Academy and is studying marketing at St. Mary’s University.

Emma Rae Cameron, daughter of Local 73 (Halifax, Nova Scotia) member John Cameron, graduated from Dr. John Hugh Gillis Regional High and is studying power engineering at Novia Scotia Community College.

Chloé Maude Sophia LeBreton, daughter of Local 73 (Halifax, Nova Scotia) member Marc LeBreton, graduated from Polyvalente W.-A.-Losier and is studying nursing at Université de Moncton.

Historic CBA Ratification
June 8th, 2023
On Monday June 5th, 2023, Boilermaker Local 73 shop members, at Woodside Industries ratified an historic Collective Agreement with Irving Shipbuilding. Understanding how inflation, retention & recruitment of qualified skilled tradespersons is affecting the industry ISB can be commended on coming to the bargaining table with a fair offer.
Highlights of the CBA:
- 4 Year Agreement with a 39.6% Wage increase
- 30.72% Wage increase as of June 5th, 2023 (Year 1)
- An increase form 4.5% Night Shift Premium to 25%
- Improved options for Health & Welfare, LTD, Life Insurance & Weekly indemnity
- Increases & Improvements to vacation pay
- Improved overtime banking options
- Improved bereavement language
- $125 increase to work boot allowance
- Improvements to overtime provisions (Sundays & Holidays to be paid at double time)
- An MOU that will allow apprentices to be paid their wage rate while attending technical training.
- Addition of a retirement bonus ($100 for every Year of service)
The members of Woodside Industries have worked very hard providing quality components to Canadas National Shipbuilding Strategy. Doing so safely and with a very diverse workforce, Congratulations on your new agreement!
