2026 Canadian Boilermaker Competition
Updated June 9th, 2026
Local 73 is extremely proud of our competitors at the 2026 Boilermaker National Competition!
This year, Local 73 was honored to have Josh Saunders (Welder) and Cory Demone (Boilermaker) represent our membership on the national stage. Over two full days of intense competition, both members demonstrated the skill, professionalism, and determination that our apprenticeship program has become known for.
The competition kicked off with a demanding team event, followed by four challenging individual events that tested every aspect of their trade knowledge and hands-on abilities. Throughout the competition, Josh and Cory represented Local 73 with pride, showcasing the craftsmanship, work ethic, and commitment to excellence that have long been the foundation of our organization.
When the competition concluded, Cory Demone of Nova Scotia was crowned the 2026 Top Boilermaker Champion, an achievement that made every member of Local 73 proud. What made the moment even more special was having Cory's wife and young child there to witness his accomplishment every step of the way.
Events of this magnitude are only possible because of the dedication of so many people. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of the competition. Special recognition goes to J'amey Bevin and the National Training Team, as well as the many members of the International Brotherhood who helped organize and support this outstanding event.
As one of the smaller locals within the Brotherhood, Local 73 continues to prove that we can compete with the very best in North America. This event provided an incredible opportunity to showcase not only the quality of training our members receive, but also to highlight to the province of New Brunswick and the entire country that a career with the Boilermakers is a rewarding and respected choice.
Congratulations once again to Josh Saunders and to our 2026 Top Boilermaker Champion, Cory Demone. Your hard work, dedication, and professionalism have made Local 73 proud.
