Dear Brothers and Sisters,
This letter serves as an important reminder of your responsibilities and the necessary obligations to ensure your eligibility to attend the upcoming International Convention scheduled for 2026. As active members of our Union, it is crucial that you meet the requirements established in our Constitution and By-Laws so that your voice is heard at the Convention.
Below are the key obligations you must observe:
- Active Membership and Continuous Good Standing:
Ensure that you remain in active status by fulfilling all membership dues and obligations. Only members who are in continuous good standing are eligible to participate in the Convention process. - Meeting Attendance Requirements:
To qualify for nomination as a delegate, you are required to attend at least one meeting in each of the five (5) calendar quarters immediately preceding the nomination period. Should you be unable to attend a meeting due to personal illness, union duties, employment under a union contract, or any other unavoidable situation, you must submit a written explanation to the Lodge President within twenty (20) days after the quarter’s end. Upon acceptance of your explanation, your absence will be excused and duly recorded. - Nomination and Election Process:
Nominations for delegates to attend the Convention will be held in March, with the subsequent election taking place in April at a regular or special meeting, unless an alternative schedule is approved by the International President. It is essential that you familiarize yourself with this timeline and prepare accordingly to secure your nomination. - Record Keeping:
The Recording Secretary is responsible for maintaining an accurate attendance log. Please ensure you sign in at every meeting. This record is vital in verifying that you have met the attendance requirements and will be referenced during the nomination process. - Preparation for the Convention:
In addition to fulfilling these obligations, we encourage you to actively participate in your local Lodge’s meetings and activities. Your engagement not only strengthens our collective voice but also ensures that our representation at the International Convention is robust and effective.
Thank you for your commitment to our Union and your ongoing support in advancing the interests of our Brotherhood.
